My name is Lada Tomašić, I was born in Zagreb, I graduated from the School of Applied Art and Design and the Faculty of Textile Technology. I have been exhibiting since 2015, presenting myself with several solo and group exhibitions. I have been a member of ULUPUH since 2017. I will become a member of HULULK in 2021. I live and work in Zagreb.
My starting point is the creation of textiles as a multi-applied display. By recycling different textile materials, their joining and unification, it allows me to immerse myself in colors, shapes, textures. It is an expression of my inner world, the desire and need to “extract” from myself all that is invisible: imagination, ideas, inspiration, creation.
The possibilities offered by textile expression satisfy my affinity for different forms of material application. So my creation can be an art painting, an article of clothing, a material for furniture, a wall tapestry or an installation.
Also, my work with textiles satisfies my tendency towards individuality, non-uniformity and deviation from the norms related to the textile industry.
My work is also motivated by my long-term spiritual practice, as well as today’s modern society, which is full of stereotypes, in which true values are brought to the edge of survival. Dedication to what transcends us, the path to liberation, love for life, creation and knowledge are my eternal inspiration.
